#1583 space for nightly spins on secondary1
Closed: Fixed None Opened 14 years ago by kevin.

Greetings. I am working with the SPINS SIG to get nightly spins snapshots composing.

We are using spins1 to make all spins that compose from a cron script.

We are thinking that we don't need every nightly spin to be available, but perhaps once a week or before special events (like test days), we could make the spins available. It would be nice to make the logs from the compose available for each day. (they are small).

Space for 1 set of all spins will be around 10G or so.
I don't know how many people will download these... testers and qa people primarially.

Happy to answer any questions or provide more info on this.

How many sets would need to be stored at once? They can probably be cleaned out every 1-2 weeks since they're mostly for testing, right?

Yes, we wouldn't want to keep too many...

I would say current set + previous weeks if there is space?
(So people could check a bug from the previous week or see space growth?)

Also, might be good to keep the last version of each that composed.
Ie, if xfce fails to compose on the new week, keep the last one that did compose around?

Assigning this to mmcgrath for the hosted-content part. I'll be happy to help you out with getting your script in puppet whenever you're happy with it - just ping me on IRC.

I think this is all done.
