#1532 Ownership of orphaned project Amber
Closed: Fixed None Opened 14 years ago by mbacovsk.

Hi,
I would like to take over the Amber project which was orphaned about a year ago. I would like to have ownership of ambergit and amber_admins groups. If it is within your power I would like to become admin of admin-devel mailing list too.

If there is anything I can help with, please let me know.

Regards,
Martin

Note: Within Fedora, the features of amber are being absorbed into the package database and fedora community. Do you still want ownership of amber?

Does that mean, that going on with amber does no longer make sense from
Fedora's point of view?

Sorry, forgot to CC myself.

Talked with caillon and the scoop is that comments, tagging, and integrating with yum repository metadata are being worked on as a GSoC project. The yum repo stuff is in so we now have the information that repoview currently has -- but for updates and updates-testing as well as for the release. Tagging is being worked on now.

We're concentrating on the backend stuff and minimal web UI just to show the backend is working. I'm hopeful that we'll get some polished frontend stuff done this summer but if something has to be dropped that's what will be left to later to finish. The main reason for that is that Fedora Community is interested in putting a nice shiney wrapper on tagging and commenting. So if we have the backend ready in the packagedb, lmacken and J5 can get started on their front end independently of whatever frontend ends up in the packagedb.

Here's the GSoC proposal:

I'd like to take Amber ownership anyway. I have a few patches to commit and I'm probably the last one who touched it.

What are the next steps needed on this ticket and who is handling them?

I believe this is done but we never closed it. mbacovsk has commit access to gitamber and is working with maploin and I on pkgdb integration.
