#1473 Request for demo mediawiki instance for QA
Closed: Fixed None Opened 14 years ago by jlaska.

The Fedora QA team would like to dabble with a private mediawiki instance with several extensions enabled and sample data. This effort may result in a system used to improve the process by which test results are collected and organized for future Test Days and test execution during the Fedora 12 campaign.

== Time frame ==
I suspect the mediawiki instance would need to be available for 1 month while we make changes to adjust existing test results. Based on the success of modelling previous F11 data, we may wish to run the instance through the Alpha (end of August) before making a recommendation. Mel Chua (who is cc'd) will be done most of the work in organizing categories and namespaces to semantic's liking. How soon this is needed may depend on Mel's availability to assist.

== Extensions enabled ==
The mediawiki instance would need several changes enabled for this proof-of-concept. Two of the three changes are in the form of mediawiki extensions. Only one has been approved through package review. Should this proof-of-concept pan out, we would move forward with package approval for the remaining extension. The list of changes are:
* mediawiki-semantic - already packaged (see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=490001)
* mediawiki-semantic-forms - still in package review (see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=490171)
* sub-pages enabled - see http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgNamespacesWithSubpages#Enabling_for_all_namespaces

== Pre-populated data ==

The mediawiki instance would need to be pre-populated with existing QA-related content from the current fedoraproject.org wiki

  • a timeline on when you'd like it (over the next week, day, month)
  • a list of categories and pages to include in the data

== Admin access ====
In order to continue customizing the mediawiki instance, admin access may be required. I don't have the specifics of what changes are required at this time. I have cc'd Mel Chua on this ticket who has experience in setting up and administering a mediawiki-semantic system at laptop.org.

== Next steps ==
Possible outcomes from this proof-of-concept include:
* Requesting the extensions be added to fedoraproject.org for general use
* Should performance be an issue, requesting a separate mediawiki instance for Fedora QA
* Should the proof-of-concept not meet QA needs, releasing the instance and documenting lessons learned

here's your export, complete with revision histories, and i think the templates used in the pages (but i'm not 100% sure)

jlaska, will you branch mediawiki-semantic for EL-5?

mmcgrath: I've build mediawiki-semantic into .el5 ... does that work for you? (see http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=111649)

Ok, so I think we're all setup. I've not tested this install that much but it should be in working form.

If either of you need access to the actual host (to tweak, mess with the db or configs) just apply for the sysadmin-test group and let me know. Also once your accounts are created let me know so I can admin them. Just ping me in #fedora-admin on irc.freenode.net

So why do we need to change this? As far as I've seen we have subpages enabled for everything.

This is part of the original request from Mel. If sub-pages are already enabled, then I guess no additional work is needed.
