#1430 Request anonymous FTP access to alt.fedoraproject.org
Closed: Fixed None Opened 14 years ago by jlaska.

http://alt.fedoraproject.org is currently used for downloading release candidate ISO images for testing prior to release. If FTP access were available on this system, it would allow for easier scripting to download images for testing.

Is it possible to enable anonymous FTP access to alt.fedoraproject.org?

With tools like lftp which support http urls, why would ftp be easier? Also, there is rsync available which I think would be the easiest of all. But I haven't used ftp in years, maybe I'm missing some feature that helps here?

right now rsync isn't available for alt/stage. I could put that back, as a separate module, if desired.

I dislike FTP generally because it mucks with the firewall rules quite a bit, whereas http and rsync only need a single port open.

Would rsync be sufficient?

Thanks for the quick response gentlemen! I knew lftp could process http urls, but I didn't realize it could do directory listings as well. It looks like it should just work with a few modifications on the test script.

Looks like we can close this out :)
