#1375 wiki caching
Closed: Fixed None Opened 14 years ago by mmcgrath.

There seems to be a stale cache issue with the mediawiki cache. Examples can be found but it's still unclear exactly how to reproduce.

FWIW, I can't reproduce the problem at this point since the stale cache issues seems to have disappeared but others like Kevin Kofler had noticed the same issue in fedora-devel list. You might try to create a page, add some content, save it, log out and see if the page reflects the latest content. For several weeks now, on pages I have newly created, I used to see the old content (sometimes even a couple of weeks old) unless I login.

I was able to view the problem and cleared the cache as part of troubleshooting. I'm trying to re-create the issue now.

K, i've increased the memcached servers from 64M to 512M and started having mediawiki cache to them. Lets keep an eye on it and see how things go.

I changed type to "bug"

It is more than an annoyance. It often wastes a lot of time while two people argue over why they both see different versions of the page. It is also extremely unhelpful to new people who may be looking around our project for the first time to encounter wrong information that has already been updated, but can only be seen if they logged in (but didn't know they needed to do).

I should note if you're still seeing this to let me know the page.

I'm assuming this is all fixed now. I've not heard any complaints. If it's not fixed please re-open.

Thanks. I have not noticed any more problems.
