#424 You helped get NodeJS 4 into Fedora
Opened 8 years ago by jsmith. Modified a year ago

Badge description (like "You added a co-maintainer to a package. BFF!"): You helped get NodeJS 4 into Fedora. Thanks!

Help the badges team understand what this idea is all about. If this badge is awarded for certain kinds of activities:
1) What are those activities?
Helping out with the effort to get NodeJS 4.x (and it's long list of dependencies) into Fedora 24.
2) Who is doing them (are they packagers? translators? newcomers? veterans? users? sponsors?)
Packagers
3) Why are they doing them (is this a means to a different end?)
As part of the NodeJS feature.
4) When do they do them (every day? once a year?)
It's a one-time effort to get NodeJS 4.x into Fedora
5) How do they do them (by talking in IRC? by running commands in the console? by using a web interface?)
By building, updating, and reviewing packages. The badge would likely be awarded manually by the feature owners.

Lastly, do you have any ideas for artwork concepts?

The NodeJS logo typically includes a hexagon and a muted (almost sage?) green color. The badge might include a green hexagon with "4" or "4.x" in the middle, or maybe just a green hexagon on a package box.

Anything I can do to help move this along?

Hi, I know this badge request is extremely old, but I am curious if it would still be relevant to put this one together? If we have a list of the people who helped with this Change, I think we can still award, even if it's pretty late. I'll leave this call to jsmith to decide on if it's still relevant. If so, then we can try to find an artist for this one since it's been pending for so long!

This badge came up during the meeting today and it's on the badges team list to advertise this badge out for new designers for the moment.

Also, I remember someone working on it during Flock... if that person somehow sees this comment, please add your artwork so whoever grabs it has a starting point :)

Ooohh, pretty! This seems similar to other badges of this type. Further triaging ticket and CCing some other designers to provide feedback to this badge.

It should―it's a replica of the mashup suggested by riecatnor. The only addition is a hexagon, "4.x" text, and a background color change.

This looks good to me too.

Hey, lookin' good! Only change I have is to make the background pink, like this one: https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/united-packages-of-fedora The reasoning behind that is we are trying to keep the bg's correlating for each type of badge within each category. I know that not every badge bg is correct, and someday hopefully we will get around to making that perfect ;)

Is there a list of the color combos and badge-types? Would love to have as a reference to ease the transition for new contributors.

Thanks!

Not to bite off more than I can chew, but is there a semi-organized structure of svgs that someone could go through to right the backgrounds? I don't think I'd understand what background should go with what, but I'd be happy to help "someday" come sooner.

Artwork looks great! Approved! Thanks for your work on this @kylerconway

The best we have right now you can find here:

https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-badges/wiki/DesignResources

There under "Content" you can get different backgrounds that have already been used. As for which colors to use for what, you can find that in the style guide(also on that page). It does need to be updated with the additions that have been made since the style guide was created. We will get there someday! ;) Another way to figure out what color background to use is to refer to the actual Fedora Badges website and look at similar badges.

Since you need approval for badge artwork anyways, you do not have to worry too much about getting the colors right, the badge mentors will help out!

Great. As this is my first approved badge, is there anything I need to do further on my end?

Thanks for the feedback and help.

@kylerconway You should be all set! I can go ahead and push this badge, but before then, I need to have someone to help with granting the badge. Either jsmith or sgallagh may be able to help with this perhaps?

I'm happy to work with sgallagh to make sure everyone who deserves it gets this badge.

@riecatnor oops! I was not clear. I meant for this issue the artwork which was approved. Can you comment the links of the artwork which is the approved artwork for this badge?
