#416 FAD Python 3 Porting 2015
Closed: Rejected None Opened 8 years ago by williamjmorenor.

Badge description: You attended the Fedora Python 3 Porting FAD 2015!

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD_Python_3_Porting_2015

I think there is not much to say about this badge, the python3 porting is a big effort and the porting FAD was a great event in this line.

From the Wiki page you linked, it seems like the partecipants of this vFAD already received badge #386. Does it make sense to have this badge? How should it be awarded?

I'm +1 for closing this ticket. Seems like #386 is the same purpose and functionality. Maybe updating who has permissions to award the badge?

I motion to close this ticket.

This badge should culd we awared by Adbel (potty), please note the badge in #386 is intended for others task realted to the python3 as default effort like the anaconda and dnf team, and the idea is to have somo similar ideas in this year

In a nutshelle, many people still can have the Parselmouth badge helping in the tools than Fedora need to improve python3 as default, but olny a few were activide in this FAD, and if we can have more FADs these year how can you now how was in the first spring?

Okay, I understand this badge a little better now as compared to the other badge. Since this was a one-time event for 2015, having a badge seems okay and makes sense in my mind.

As a result, I'm approving the concept and marking the ticket as triaged. I'm also going to CC riecatnor and mleonova for design approval. If one of the two of them okay it, we can then look at getting it pushed.

Also, I realize this was in '''2015''' and not '''2016''', that was a mistake on my end. However, that's an easy fix, so if the ''concept'' looks good, I can just go back and change the '6' to a '5'.

Additionally, I have two designs below. One is what I would consider the more safe approach (top image) and is similar to the original file provided above. The second one was an alternative design I thought might be interesting, but it might be a little too confusing. Thoughts welcome!

Hi! I'd go for concept #1, but please consider improving it. Right now difference in fonts is bothering me, can we make it all Comfortaa? And somehow centering it to the badge? Also the logo gets lost on the background, color needs to be changed..
Looking forward to what you'll come up with! ;)

I agree on the sense of this badge. I do remember a blog post (don't remember if it was on commblog, a personal blog or the magazine) talking about this vFAD (the author listed all the people that partecipated, and I think that list of people should be awarded with this badge).

I do agree with mlonova with the concept 1 with the suggested improvements.

PS: blog post I was talking about http://www.abdelmartinez.com/2015/11/python-3-porting-fad-results.html

Thanks for the feedback again Maria, I'm going to work on getting some of your suggestions into a new revision in the coming week.

  1. This is called FAD, why the badge says vFAD?
  2. Do not play with the Python logo too much, it has some rules. https://www.python.org/psf/trademarks/

Seems I missed this reply in inbox.

1) The term "vFAD" comes from "virtual Fedora Activity Day", since this event was largely a virtual event. However, that may come off as confusing based on past uses of "FAD" and it might be better to just follow KISS for this. I'll leave the decision for which one to a Python SIG member.

2) That's good info to know. The second revision is out for those reasons.

Here is a third revision based on feedback in the ticket.

Hey jflory! Looking good =) One little thing I'd suggest is making the text white or just adding white outline, so it won't blend with the background so much. And maybe move it a tiny bit to the left.

Hiya, since this badge request is over a year old for an event, I am going to close for now. If you rilly need it, we can reopen :)
