#394 A travel begins with one step
Closed: Duplicate None Opened 8 years ago by jehane.

Badge description (like "You added a co-maintainer to a package. BFF!"): You travel to a conference in a other country

Help the badges team understand what this idea is all about. If this badge is awarded for certain kinds of activities:
1) What are those activities? Going to conference
2) Who is doing them (are they packagers? translators? newcomers? veterans? users? sponsors?) contributers
3) Why are they doing them (is this a means to a different end?) Going far from home to talk about fedora
4) When do they do them (every day? once a year?) once or twice a year
5) How do they do them (by talking in IRC? by running commands in the console? by using a web interface?) Travelling and scanning a QR code

Lastly, do you have any ideas for artwork concepts?
A suitcase with somes old-school travellers stickers on it
(If there is a series of "travellers" badges, we can begin with only one or two and adding more and more)

we already have event badges, this looks duplicate of them. If someone is going to attend a conference we generally have that conference attendee badge, why to extend that to make difference that someone attended conference in local area or abroad? Please don't make them so personal.

I have propose this badge has a extra reward for people travelling far from home. Going in a conference 2h from home is not the same than going overseas. You have to speak in a foreign language, use a different currency most of the time, discover others habits.

Hi all, I believe that encouraging people to travel for Fedora is important. I do not think that we need to define between far and near travel. Not all contributors are capable of traveling far, with limits such as budgets, family, etc. We can instead reward the number of times you have traveled total with a series of traveling badges. Doing it this way will make things easier on the badge designers, by making one series instead of two. We already have a ticket for this concept(#221), so I will close this as a duplicate. The artwork on that ticket needs to be fixed up, but it is close to being ready.
