#363 Holiday Maker
Closed: Rejected None Opened 9 years ago by isimluk.

Alternative name: Camper Badge.

Criteria: Did not receive any badge in 2 months.

Rationale: Firstly, it is beneficial for one's mental health to relax for a while. Secondly, it is also good for Fedora to remind its contributors, that it has already been a while since their last contribution.

Hi!
I've made a concept based on your alternative title for the badge

This is awesome. You made my day! Thank You.

Reopening as a recent status change misses justification and feels accidental.

it breaks a bit the rule to have no negative badges, so reminding somebody that he did not earn any badge in 2 months would be negative and btw, if you have a lot of top badges it becomes hard to earn more badges. So its a kind of insultation then even

It did not needed to be worded negatively, if that was an issue. From where I come from, the very most people would have good laugh over this. It would perk up a person's attitude towards the project and perhaps it would enable them to take next heated debate on fedora-devel with grace.

I guess different cultures have different sense of humor. And that's alright.

What concerns me however is that with globalization and cultural imperialism of recent times, we (as in society) loose mental capacity to sense humor. You can say the very same thing with angst and anger or with joy and love. You can choose to be insulted when someone loves you, but is not the choice that he makes.

This topic is very subtle and it may not be understood by many. When we loose sense of humor we also lose our ability to take things that happen in life with grace. And things happen. We teach people to become victims instead of creators. The lack of creators has an adverse effect on entrepreneurship (in broader meaning of the term) and the economy. As a result I get less anchovies on my pizza than I could get otherwise. We let our fears to limit our growth.

Lastly, when we create an environment where everything is positive, people tend to (subconsciously) identify themselves with that environment less.

Now, please, everyone takes a nap and then let's have a good laugh together.
