#237 Approval of Budget for WWFS-FWD'2016
Closed: Invalid 6 years ago Opened 7 years ago by amani.

I need approval for budget for a two day workshop on women in free software including Fedora Women's day on 15th-16th July at Kolkata.

Link: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/WWFS-FWD'2016

Total Amount: $500

Here is the break up:

$20 -certificates
$60 - DVDs
$300 - Travel Allowance for Speakers
$120 - Sponsorship

Sorry, I can not find your event listed in APAC FY2017 budget plan (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD_Singapore_2015/Events)

Any mistake?

Should it have been listed there earlier or what should I do so now?
I have not been so active for quite some time and so may be missing a few rules.

Thanks

Anyway have added the event to the page.

No, no mistake and you should not edit that page now. That is the final budget plan.

Currently, all the budget should be planned BEFORE the fiscal year, and then discussed during the FAD APAC to see if the event will be sponsored or not. For this year no one mention this event before (and during) FAD APAC and no one send emails to the ambassador list to ask for this event as well, so this event is not sponsored.

And besides, I see no sense spending $500 to hold an event which is 50 participants only.

If you want to have it sponsored next fiscal year, please submit the idea when calling for listing events of each country in APAC(usually by email).

FYI, see [https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Budget.next Budget.Next], the new budget process. Everyone should be aware that all the budget should be planned beforehand, as the process required.

This event is part of Fedora that did not exist (formally) until recently. It seems it needs some clarity on timing going forward. I have similar event upcoming, and was under impression this would not be handled by regions. Let's leave the ticket open until we can get some feedback please :)

There is the other issue of not informing the local community at all with respect to Fedora Women Day. Even in the Pune event I can see the organizer is keeping the rest of the local community in dark (no information shared anywhere to the community).

All the discussions are in Fedora diversity list
Basically I have asked Amita to handle this ticket (as all the swag is going to be made by her).
We need swag for both the events. One of us will update this soon.

Hi Kushal,

I am not sure what you are pointing at? I have personally discussed about the event with you.
Also, everything is on mailing list. As far as details are concerned, we are still under progress and working on them. I hope you understand and help us.

Thanks,
Amita

Few months back you said there may be an event, other than this line there were no discussion. There were no mails to the Fedora India list. I don't see this came up as any meeting topic. I do not see any effort to do any community event in this regard.

Hello Dear Mani,

Just want to make it clear that I have never committed on producing the swags. We don't have stickers design ready for specific day yet, also budget is the BIG issue.

Still, if you insist, I will try to move ahead on this, but really can't commit anything.

Best Regards,
Amita
