#122 Western Union / MoneyGram transfer charges and its effect on APAC budget
Closed: Fixed None Opened 10 years ago by izhar.

Hi,

As I'm now a CC holder, I've been exploring around on the methods to reimburse people. APAC have a rather unique case where not many countries can accept payment through paypal. The easiest payment method for reimbursement would be Western Union and MoneyGram. Malaysian Western Union / MoneyGram itself does not support credit card, nonetheless, there is an online payment using credit card for US cards (which, RH card is)

However, .... one problem .. transfer charges

For udinnet ticket on #111 for example, USD616 reimbursement will incur USD58 transfer charge on western union. This, will affect our budget considerably.

While I would want to start doing reimbursement as soon as possible for pending tickets, I will need this transfer charges issue to be discussed and clarified on what is our policy on transfer charges. 9% charge is considerably high, especially for a region with low budge like us.

We've got a page for this:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Ambassadors/APAC/Reimbursement/Preferred_Payment_Methods

People need to update it with reimbursement methods that are cheapest and most convenient for the CC holder.

We agreed to let all transaction fees delegated to end receiver in APAC meeting April 12th, 2014: http://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-meeting/2014-04-12/ambassadors_apac_2014-04-12.2014-04-12-04.01.html
