#46 Project Atomic and Fedora Docker Host Image
Closed None Opened 10 years ago by mattdm.

This is a meeting discussion item. Red Hat has launched http://www.projectatomic.io/ with a lot of bits and pieces that we are already familiar with, plus a few new parts (e.g., geard) that have just landed in Fedora.

We have https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/Docker_Cloud_Image in progress, with a very strong alignment. So, the basic questions are:

  • Do we want to make the Fedora Docker Host be "Fedora Atomic Host"?
  • If so, how do we make that happen?
  • If not, how are we positioning the alternative options?
  • In either case, what things need to be done?
  • Who will do those things?

Tough choice, though the Atomic Host way is awesome, it's still in early stages and might even scare the majority/laggards. At least for F21, we should provide both ways if possible.
If we had to chose only one, it seems logical that we focus on the Atomic Host considering our mission statement: Atomic is TEH future !

So, at the [http://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-meeting/2014-04-24/fedora-meeting.2014-04-24-14.08.log.html IRC meeting], we decided to go ahead with Atomic for the Docker Host Image. More to come. :)

Do we need this to continue being tagged for meetings?

I think we only just cleared the first point of that list, so we should probably bring it up again at another meeting. That's also how I understand mattdm's "More to come".

I think that the "more to come" is now in process in other tickets, so closing this
