Comment text runs past edge of the page's white content area.

Once a comment is added to an update, when the update is displayed (and the comments expanded), even if the comment author didn't use a newline at the end of each line of text within the text entry area, the text shouldn't run past the right edge. It makes it very difficult to read the info.
Cause is the use of <pre></pre> to provide the source code like formatting of the comment. Instead of <pre>, we could use a style with a font applied that gives the same look. ie like small, fixed width font, etc, but that supports word-wrap, so that the comment will be word-wrapped in the user's browser window, regardless of browser on screen width.
