#32 Explore using a persistent search to get updates form the Directory Server
Closed: Fixed None Opened 13 years ago by simo.

A persistent search allows the LDAP server to send data when it becomes available, allowing to remove polling to check if there are updates. Persistent searches may be expensive for LDAP servers, so it needs to be an optional feature.

Note that even with persistent searches we may want a delay before reloading a zone to give any given change a chance to propagate to all replicated LDAP server. A configurable time would be preferred.

Warning: Persistent search implementation before 2.0 release contains serious bugs.
