Enhancement proposal

also-notify should be supported in the options block of named.conf when using bind-dyndb-ldap.

Use case

I have non-FreeIPA BIND slaves that need to be notified when IPA zone updates occur. There are no NS records in the IPA controlled zones for these servers.

This is nice feature to have but unfortunatelly in Fedora 22 milestone there are more pressing issues to tackle so it got small priority (as you can see in report https://fedorahosted.org/bind-dyndb-ldap/report/3)

Quite a lot people asked for this feature in last months so we today agreed on increasing its priority.

Hmm, this is more complicated that it seemed. As far as I can tell there is no way to do proper also-notify configuration in bind-dyndb-ldap. We probably need to modify BIND DynDB API first.

I'm afaid that this feature needs to be postponed until updated DynDB API patches are merged upstream and then rebased to Fedora, which is going to take many months. Sorry!

These tickets are not directly related to upcomming FreeIPA 4.4 features.

Moving tickets as triaged on 2016-02-11 with mkosek. These tickets are not going to be implemented without strong need/good justification.

I'm setting priority to 'critical' so these tickets stay on top of The Backlog bucket.
