catching crashes of custom applications

Description

it would be nice for some admins to be able to catch and process crashes of theirs own compiled (unpackaged, unsigned) applications. Not for Bugzilla plugin, but for some custom reporting/actions.

Change History

  • Summary changed from catchich crashes of custom applications to catching crashes of custom applications

I think that as a first step it would be fine if "custom crashes" got all the way to the gui instead of being caught by the daemon. In the gui they should be visible but just bugzilla upload etc disabled.

It is confusing that they are filtered out.

IMHO, good way for this - different config file with some filename patterns and rules

For example, %{sysconfdir}/abrt/plugins/CCpp-custom.conf:

[git-*]
  ; case for use abrt-gui with 'bugzilla upload' etc disabled
  type = gui

[curl]
  ; case with call of external debugger
  type = gdb
  open = /usr/bin/kdbg /home/username/src/curl/FAKE_ROOT/bin/curl %core%

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

current abrt version (1.1.13+) has the option ProcessUnpackaged? which enables abrt to detect crashes in custom applications...
