#703 Block ghc682 package

The existence of the ghc682 package in rawhide appears to be causing broken
deps:

Broken deps for i386

ghc-gtk2hs-0.9.12.1-8.fc9.i386 requires ghc = 0:6.8.2
ghc682-gtk2hs-0.9.12.1-8.fc9.i386 requires /usr/bin/ghc-pkg-6.8.2
ghc682-gtk2hs-0.9.12.1-8.fc9.i386 requires ghc682

According to the changelog for ghc-6.8.3-3.fc10

  • Wed Jun 18 2008 Bryan O'Sullivan bos@serpentine.com - 6.8.3-2
  • Remove unnecessary dependency on alex

ghc682 has been obsoleted, but the maintainer probably forgot to request
blocking of the package from rawhide

ghc682 used to be a subpackage of ghc. With the latest build of ghc http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=53181 those subpackages have been dropped. There is no blocking to be done.

I know that. But then why are there still broken deps appearing the
rawhide report?

It looks like obsoleting hasn't been done correctly, or something else
is wrong.

Bryan,

Looking into it a little deeper, it appears that it isn't your package
that is to blame. It's actually the gtk2hs-0.9.12.1-8.fc9 package:

http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=1995

which provides the ghc682-gtk2hs-0.9.12.1-8.fc9 package that is
causing the breakage that needs to be rebuilt and/or obsolete it's own
682 subpackage. Unfortunately it currently fails a rebuild:

http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=53524

I'll file a bug against gtk2hs. Sorry for the noise.

Alex
