I erroneously created an EL5 branch for python-numeric, not realizing that it's already in RHEL 5:
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/5Server/en/os/SRPMS/python-numeric-23.7-2.2.2.src.rpm
but not in RHEL 6. See also: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=664399
I have followed the procedure here to retire the package:

I have marked it as "dead.package" and retired the branch in PackageDB, this is the final step.
Done.
